Data Analysis Research Assistant
The project necessitates proficiency in computer programming and skills for qualitative data analysis, interpretation, and visualizing findings. A background in coding is essential, as is the ability to categorize qualitative data for applying statistical methods, particularly with non-numeric attributes. Proficiency in engaging with qualitative data to extract meaningful insights, identify trends, and discover correlations is a critical requirement. The project's culmination will be a paper underpinned by supporting visualizations and statistical evidence.
Level- UP - MacEwan- Tutorial videos for Datasets application -4
We would like students to help us with creating content that is aligned with our vision, mission, and sector. We will ensure the student has a clear understanding of what these elements are for our organization. The aim of this project is to create promotional videos and tutorials for a group of web-based educational tools. We need a team of students to capture, edit and create promotional videos and tutorials for those educational tools. The project is composed of two new phases. Phase 3: Capture, edit and create promotional videos, in addition to some tutorial videos Phase 4: Capture, edit and create tutorial videos for the applications. We will provide guidance to all students.

A Framework for Developing and Assessing Programming Skills using H5P and Moodle Phase #2
Assessing student’s knowledge and skills for programming is often limited to their knowledge of the language and coding ability. Development tools are often an overlooked aspect of programming. Some attempt have been made to add content to courses but it is often difficult to assess student skills through traditional means. Combining H5P content with Moodle offers an interactive way for students to learn, practice, and instructors to assess skills as opposed to assess knowledge. The goal of this project is to design and develop a framework for H5P content for learning and developing skills using tools such as: Vim, Make, and Gdb.
Level UP CDA Updating MacEwanLife Resources Phase #2
Review and update existing ML resources including documents, videos and links. We are hopeful to continue the creation of competency badges that students worked on this summer. There are an additional four competencies to create for MacEwanLife. We are also creating certificates for a number of other events and would love the student to take this on, as well.
Level UP: Earth Common Journal - Volume 10 phase 2
Earth Common Journal is creating, developing, and publishing its Volume 9, Issue 1 - "Influence" (2023). Earth Common Journal ( ECJ ) is an international undergraduate peer-reviewed journal that provides a forum where students communicate a diversity of ideas and information on issues concerning conservation, sustainability, and climate adaptation. ECJ is published by the MacEwan University Bachelor of Communication Studies program. It is published annually each fall, with its inaugural issue released in 2011. The journal accepts articles from all disciplines, and includes research projects that are empirical, qualitative, creative, and interdisciplinary in content and approach. It also accepts articles from students internationally, to provide global perspectives and discussions on conservation, sustainability, and climate adaptation. Students in the disciplines of communication, journalism, editing, media, public relations, and writing are being sought to create this issue.
Student Connect Event
The student connect event will bring together students and community stakeholders to support the unhoused population in Edmonton. There are 2 main parts of the project, the first is that the student will consult with inner city organizations to understand how students at MacEwan University (across various faculties) can contribute their skills to assist in addressing the housing crisis. The second part of this project involves collaborating with students, professors and stakeholders at MacEwan University who are interested in these supports and services.
Optimization methods for agriculture insurance
This project is an application of mathematical modelling and optimization to a livestock insurance problem. The goal is to analyze various scenarios from a farmer’s perspective and to minimize the loss. The main idea is to design and implement in Python a numerical simulation, including various scenarios in terms of the farm size and insurance premiums.
A Scoping Review on the Knowledge Gaps in the Current Literature Critical Race Theory and Anti-Black Racism Framework in Social Work Education, Research, and Practice - Winter 2024
This proposed research is a scoping review. This type of methodology seeks to undertake a comprehensive search of the breadth and scope of all available literature pertaining to the research topic and question. The main purpose of conducting a scoping study is to identify gaps in existing literature, to summarize and synthesize research findings from existing literature. The data will be amassed from published peer-reviewed academic publications in English from 2000 to 2022 through key word searches such as ‘social work and critical race theory and education ,’ and ‘social work and anti-Black racism and research’ in order to extract relevant data. Some of the electronic databases that would be used are EBSCO and ProQuest. The abstract of articles will be reviewed to ensure they meet the keyword search criteria. Those that are not a good fit will be eliminated at this stage. This process will be followed by an extensive review of the articles’ content to complete the final selection of eligible articles. This will be followed by the charting of emergent themes. The scoping review will be concluded with a written report of the findings.
